The publisher of our local paper, the Key West Citizen, was a big thinker, very creative. Bill Barry wanted the Citizen to do something special for the millennium so he approached Jeff, the biggest name in the newspaper business living in town with the idea of doing a cover for the paper for the last day of the 20th Century and the new millennium.

Jeff loved the Citizen, particularly for the Crime Report—a subject of one of his paintings.
